Jeremy,

Thanks for your comment! And you're making complete sense.

I agree that it's often a challenge to learn to create a certain instrument sound based on what you hear in a song. Part of the learning curve is understanding how sounds are synthesized or created from samples, and the other part is learning how to do that particular work with your chosen tools.

There's been some good discussion about this over on Bwack's Forum, and I anticipate having similar discussions here. One of the areas I'm interested in most is creating original patches in the various instruments I use (things like Thor in Reason or ES2 and Sculpture in Logic).

Some of the first videos will be tutorials around these types of topics, so stick around!

I'm excited about where Sacred Loops is heading. Thanks for all your hard work!!

I'm a long-time piano player that in recent years has become increasingly interested in the electronic side of things (synths, organs, reason, ablton, etc., etc.) One thing I find difficult is wading through all the sound possibilities - and then after a while feeling like they all sound the same (although I realize they don't.)

I'd be interested in a forum, blog, something where particular sounds in radio/CD music tunes are pointed out and the exact or a close sound in reason/ableton/logic is given, and a catalog is developed so that aspiring loop creators can reference particular sounds in common software with what they hear on the radio or CD. Am I making sense?

I love what you guys are doing. I also love the idea of the videos. That would be extremely helpful for someone of my novice reason skill level. I have been able to use a lot of the loops posted on here for one man band stuff, but would like to begin to make some loops of my own for certain songs. Overall, You guys do a great job! Thanks for what you do!

Troy,

Yes, the file upload and cataloging process is getting a major overhaul. I admit that it's one of the least interesting aspects of the site for me, but I understand the appeal to others.

One of the challenges is reviewing the uploads to ensure that there aren't any blatant violations of copyright or other restrictions. As it stands now, even the uploading of sequences of another artist's works is technically a problem, and I stand ready to remove any files which cause a particular artist any concerns.

I'm operating under the (very broad) assumption that most worship artists would rather see their music being used to reach people for Christ, but you never know. I'm still working through the legal aspects to cover myself and the site so that we don't get shut down for doing something stupid.

I'll be pushing for more original content and more generic submissions (like real loops rather than full sequences of songs, etc.).

Thanks for the input.

Tim,

Automating the conversion process seems difficult based on my research because it requires somehow automating Reason. It might be possible using keystroke macro programs or perhaps some sort of scripting (assuming Reason would respond to being scripted).

For now, I've been looking at how to minimize the amount of work in doing in manually where it made sense.

Make it easier to upload files.
Other than that, I think it's great.

Is there any possibility in automating a process that converts a reason file to mp3 because it would also unfair to place someone in charge of converting so many files to mp3. At the same time, I find it frustrating that there's so much content that I can't access. However, maybe that means I should get Reason...

My motive for requesting this is so that newcomers can experiment with loops created by the community before investing in Reason, Ableton, PT, Logic, etc.

Also, I'm wondering if there are other "libraries" with such loop content. Providing links to these on the website would help a lot.

All in all, I'm looking forward to SL, and thanks for investing your time into this.
